What stand alone App? By this unqualified statement, I am assuming you are referring to a possible App available on a Smart TV? That being the case, why would I be using a Roku Streaming Stick if my Smart TV had a Paramount+ App? Most people I know use a Streaming Device because their 'Smart TV' has become 'dumb' in that it has no longer been updated via software / firmware a few years after purchase rendering most Apps unusable today. Mine didn't even have a Paramount+ App.
If you are referring to a Smart Phone App, then that's irrelevant as I wouldn't be posting on a Roku Forum about an IOS or Android App.
This is a totally ridiculous situation to be honest and although this may not be the fault of Roku, the sheer number of similar issues other users are having tells you that the information is seriously lacking about this for potential subscribers.
This happens nowhere else I can think of - if I have a Netflix account, I sign up on the Netflix website and can then sign in with the same credentials on any other platform, whether that be a Smart TV, a Streaming device, Smart Phone or a PC!
Nowhere has the issue that you 'cannot sign up on the Paramount+ website and use those credentials to log in on the Roku Paramount+ App' been published that I can find - either on the Roku App or the Paramount+ Website. The very least Roku could do is make this clear on the actual Roku Paramount+ App channel page, so that people are not stressing out unnecessarily and going crazy over log in issues when it will never work!
Surely this is not rocket science and would stop other users going mad over this issue? Please forward this on to the relevant 2 year olds concerned.
PS, I do thank you for clarifying the reason why this does not work - at least I have the reason - but please do ensure that they reference this on the Roku Channel App.....
