  • Okay, so I guess I'm not the only one that it's not working for. The remote turns on the tv, the volume buttons work, and THAT'S IT. Nothing else works. Oh, except I just got charged for the service. It was working fine a week ago. Why can I not get an agent on the phone to talk me through this? It's like "talk to the hand" after I pay my bill. Hello? Anybody there?

bluejacket472, you have a completely different problem than what this thread is referring to.  It sounds like your Roku device isn't even powered on or it's in a power saving mode.  The power and volume buttons on the remote affect only the TV and work completely separate from the other buttons.  Try disconnection the power from the Roku device and reconnect it.  Start a new topic if that doesn't fix it.

Why is it there is no tech support, and I have to "start a thread" and wait for assistance? I'm getting used to watching movies on my phone and desktop. I'll probably cancel this lemon on my day off tomorrow.

    Hi Rondawalsh,

    Welcome to the Roku Community!

We understand you are having a playback issue with The Roku Channel. We would be happy to look further into this issue, but we will need more detailed information. Can you please provide us with the following information:

    • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About).
    • Tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID).
    • IP Address (from whatismyip.com).
    • Steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing?
    • When did they start seeing this issue occur?

Once we have this information, we will be able to pass it along to the appropriate Roku team to investigate further.

    Best regards,

    Chel

      Device Model:  TCL 65R625

      Serial #:  X003006U9LPW

      Device ID:  S053Y99U9LPW

      OS version: 12.0.0 build 4182-88

IP Address:  I can't see why you'd want my computer's IP address from whatismyip.com, so I'll give you the actual television's IP:  192.168.1.161

Tracker ID:  PW-303-826 (and from the same location, Model = A108X-Roku TV, GC Version 9.5.25).

Steps to reproduce:  try to play an episode of some show in the Roku Channel.  It usually just pops right back to the show description instead of playing.  Sometimes it will just put up a spinner.

When did it start?  Good question, the spousal unit noticed it a couple of days ago.  Sometimes it goes away.

To everybody having this problem with your Roku device:

Are you able to view any content on https://therokuchannel.roku.com/ from your desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone when they are connected to the same network as your Roku device?

If you're having the same problem as we have, you should be getting a "Something went wrong.  Sorry, this page can't be viewed. Check your browser settings and try again."  error screen.

PS  Before anyone asks, we already tried rebooting our router and trying a different DNS.  All of the Roku channel's competitors play on all of our Roku and non-Roku devices without having to change any of our router or isp settings.  So, at least in my case, this issue has nothing to do with Roku hardware.

PPS  When connecting to https://therokuchannel.roku.com/ on our desktop while using a VPN and choosing any US server, the problem goes away and we are able to watch any content as usual.

All Roku apps on my fire stick aren't working and my 2 Roku sticks aren't playing Roku channels... This has been going on for 2 weeks. All other apps on all devices are working as they should. What the heck is going on?

  • Has anyone received a clear cut response from Roku as to why "their" channels will not load to play?

    This has become very frustrating.
