- When did I notice it? When I started using the thumbs up and thumbs down feature.
-Does it happen with other channels? Not with the 2 other channels I watch (Prime and Hulu)
-How many Roku devices do you have? There is one other Roku device, my son's. He has his own Roku account. we are both using late model devices.
- If multiple, are they experiencing the same? Unknown. My son doesn't use the like/dislike feature on his Roku account.
Ironically, the desire to NOT have Steven Seagal recommended IS THE REASON I started using the feature. I used to like the guy, until I met him in person. He's a mean, abrasive person to his fans, acted like we were beneath him and were totally annoying to him. I'll NEVER watch a show with him in it.
His movies, all with thumbs keep getting recommended on the row that is supposed to be my favorite stars. This row in itself is a joke. More often than not, none of the movies offered has my favorite stars in it, even since I started using the like/dislike feature. This row offers from 4 to 10 Seagal movies all the time, as well as most rows, but this row angers me the most.
It seems like the AI recommendations are simply computer suggestions. I don't see any artificial intelligence there. If there was, it would do exactly what the banner says and use the dislike rating to avoid suggesting any movies with Seagal.
Here's a thought: add a form to the Roku channel ASKING if there any stars that are a must watch and a never watch for the user, as a baseline, because disliking the movie doesn't seem to be telling the channel bot that I don't like the actor, just that I don't like the movie.
I hope you can do something about this, because I use the Roku channel more that the pay channels. It has many more golden oldies than they do.
Have a good day,
