Roku channel ads Ultra v Firestick

Got a Roku ultra after using Firestick for a few years. Had used Roku through the years and like the ease of use and interface. The ultra in and of itself works great. The issue is the Roku channel. When watching free content (classic series) on the RC on ultra, the commercials are fairly frequent and of long duration often over 2 minutes in length. On Firestick and watching the same content on RC, there are very short commercials and often none during the episode. So I guess I am trying to figure why you're blasted with ads on RC on Roku's own platform? I end up using the old Firestick for content on Roku channel. Anyone else experience this? Crazy to invest in a Roku device and their own channel benefits the competition.
