My Roku Box has become frozen on the home page. The remote has stopped working. I have tried the typical things such as unplugging all the connections and changing batteries in the remote. My suspicion is that somehow the box has fried itself but I really don't know. Any helpful thoughts are welcome. Thanks, David
Do you have a voice remote? Is there a microphone button on it or a pairing button inside the battery compartment? If so, you may just need to pair it again.

Have you tried installing the official Roku Remote app to an Android or iOS mobile device? If that works to control your Roku when the mobile device is connected to the same local network as your Roku, that tells you the problem is not with the Roku. It also gives you an alternate way to control the Roku while you investigate issues with the remote.
