Roku 3rd party apps Logging

How can we log issues for channel apps?  For example the HDHomeRun app on Roku has malformed data error.  How do we find out what the issues is so that it can be fixed.  The HDHomeRun support says it is Roku and there is nothing they can do?  If we don't know the issues of the malformed data error how can it be fixed?

This should be an option to be able to get these logs from the apps installed.

tk2025, you'll find that app and that error mentioned many, many times here.  There's really nothing to research.  Silicon Dust will tell you that Roku devices don't handle anything less than a perfect video stream.  If there's any glitch at all, you'll see that error.  All you can do is try a better antenna.

The signal on the hdhomerun is 100%.  The channel doesn't have any issues when running on the xbox one, or stream to a TV via hdhomerun dms.  Also via a kodi.tv addon it works.  The error that just has roku player error: malformed data is not a good error.

  • It would be up to the third-party app to create some type of logging within the app. You can create a Roku log to help Roku with the issue.

I suggest uninstalling the app, either doing a system restart or unplugging the device for 60 seconds and then reinstall the app and see if that helps.
