Roku 3 Audio Delay on Hulu

I have a Roku 3. Just recently, whenever I watch Hulu live or anything recorded, the show plays fine for 5 seconds then there's a dramatic audio delay making it unwatchable. Anything Hulu on-demand works fine. I've tried hooking it up to a different TV and changed from wireless to wired. All other apps work fine. And the Hulu app works fine on my other non-Roku devices. I also tried a factory reset of the Roku 3. Any thoughts about this? Perhaps there's a glitch in the latest version of the app?

    I'm having the same issue. I tried updating, uninstall and reinstall, check the network. No solution

    It looks like the audio on Hulu on your Roku device is delayed, and we'd like to check it out!

    Just double-checking, have you tried the quick fix below and see if there's any improvement?

    1. Remove the channel: Highlight the channel tile on your home screen and press Star to open the Options menu. Select Remove channel and confirm.
    2. Restart your Roku device (Important step before reinstalling the app): Go to Settings > System > Power > System restart.
    3. Reinstall the channel: After your Roku device restarts, visit the Roku Streaming Store and add the channel again.

      I've done all of this and checked the connection speed. None of that has worked.

      I rebooted my router.

      Checked the software update for roku and hulu

      Rebooted the system

      Power cycled a dozen times

      The other apps work perfectly well (Netflix, Prime, Sling, PBS)

  • (6/1/25): I stream Hulu with a Roku 3. This configuration was fine up to about a week or so ago but now seem to have permanent buffering problems. My first call to Hulu lasted 2 hours. The first level support staff ran me through at home checks/resets, etc..  At the end of the call the support staff found a note in their system that confirmed recent Roku3 buffering issues was flagged as a current issue as of last Saturday. He then promised Hulu's upper level techs would work on it (presumably at the servers) and told me to give it 24 hours and try again. 48 hours later we have the same problem. No improvement. Second call to Hulu today confirms this is a problem raised last week. Support staff says users who have upgraded to Roku Express 4K don't have same buffering issues. I asked if the folks at Hulu would be buying me a new Roku Express 4K. They offered a $40 credit to pay for the Express (it costs $49.99 on the Roku website).  Can Roku clarify what is going on with Hulu and the latest Roku3 software version? Are they working with Hulu to fix this issue?
