Re: Washed out colors when streaming some content from the Peacock TV channel

I am having the same issue. We have gigabit fiber so it’s not a network issue. Picture quality better over the air using an antenna. It’s annoying to have to pay for a subscription to watch a playoff game and then have poor picture quality.

Turning off HDR does work but using dev mode is unacceptable.

  • Hi Community users!

Thanks for providing the additional information regarding this concern.

This seems like an isolated case of the channel issue that the channel provider's support can address. Have you tried reaching out to Peacock directly and inquiring further about this for a workaround? Since this only occurs with the Peacock channel's content, it might be best to reach out to them as most channels on the Roku platform are designed and maintained by the channel providers themselves.

We hope this will be sorted out soon.

    All the best,
    Kash

I ended up fixing this by disabling HDR, which isn't easy to do. From your home screen, on your Roku remote: Press Home button (X5), rewind, down, fast forward, down, rewind. Select Change HDR Mode > Disable HDR.

Then when you open Peacock again it won't use HDR and the colors should look normal. Note that this seems to disable HDR for everything, not just Peacock where it's a problem. So might want to set it back later.

That trick worked (disabling hdr on the Roku tv)

        1. On your Roku remote, press the Home button five times, then press rewind, down, fast forward, down, rewind.

        2. Select Change HDR Mode.

        3. Select Disable HDR.

In no way should we have to do this though to get our TV's to work properly with peacock (ex. live NFL games).

An update fix needs to be pushed, so that hdr isn't making the games looks washed out, dull, grayish.

Disabling it, the colors look good, as they should.

Same issue here. I’ll try the troubleshooting method they’ve mentioned

Same here.   Watching the football game last night, you would swear they were playing in dense fog or haze.  Only an issue on some items in Peacock.  Same thing when I tried to watch a movie the other night on Peacock.  In the middle of the movie, it became washed out to the point it was not enjoyable watching.  I just cancelled my Peacock subscription.  Can't be bothered.

I have been contacted several times about this.   Turning the HDR off did not resolve the issue for me.   As I said, I wasn't watching Peacock that much so I just cancelled my subscription.  None of my other streaming services (Netflix, Prime, etc...) have this issue.

    Welcome to the Roku Community!
We will be more than happy to assist you further, but we will need to gather more details. Is this happening on all contents and channels, or is it isolated? (Specify) What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far?
