Processor’s sound takes 10 seconds to sync after REW or FF - figuring out the codec

I have a Roku 4k 3810EU connected to a high end Trinnov processor. Each time I rewind a movie (even just 10s to catch some missed dialog) the Roku spends a couple of seconds reloading the video and the video then plays immediately. But the sound takes about 10 seconds to sync whilst the processor figures out the correct codec.

Audio Mode and Digital Output Format both set to Auto, and DD+ is coming though.

I don’t have this problem with e.g. my Fire Stick

Any idea why this happens as I much prefer using Roku to Fire!

Will a different Roku device behave better?

    Hi Obelix27,

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community! We are glad to have you here.

We appreciate you bringing to our attention that when you fast-forward or rewind content on your Roku device, the audio will be delayed by 10 seconds. No worries, help is here.

Before we proceed, we would like to know if it happens across all channels and content. In the meantime, let's see if this will work for you.

    Restart your Roku device:

    1. Press Home on your Roku remote
    2. Scroll and select Settings
    3. Select System
    4. Select Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.
    5. Select System restart

Hi - restarting it hasn't helped. Any other ideas? It seems like the processor "loses" the CODEC during rewind, and has to spend some time working out what the CODEC is when the video restarts. This doesn't happen with my other HDMI sources such as Fire Stick. I am also wondering if getting the new Ultra 2024 is likely to fix the problem?

        Hi Obelix27,

        Thank you for your response!

We appreciate you trying the troubleshooting steps we suggested above. Let's see if this will work for you.

Reset your Roku device network connection:

        1. Press Home on your Roku remote
        2. Scroll and select Settings
        3. Select Advanced System settings
        4. Select Network connection reset
        5. Select Reset connection

If the issue persists, please provide us with the following details below:

        • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and OS version. (this can all be found in Settings System About)
        • Tracker ID (press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
        • Does this happen from all channels and content?
        • If this only happened to one channel, provide us the Channel build version (highlight the channel and press the star (*) button of your Roku remote)

We look forward to your update.

        Thanks,
