Paramount + essential channel - programs won't play

I subscribed to Paramount + Essential but when I press the Paramount icon and select a program to watch, I can select the program and episode to watch, but then get a black screen - the program won't play. This doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes I can watch several episodes in a row and then when I press the next episode it won't play and just shows a black screen. I can select Paramount + essentials through the ROKU channel or via it's own icon. Is there a difference in how Paramount works if I select it through ROKU vs. it's own icon?
