NEWSMAX TV "Work Around" — Not a Roku Problem — UPDATE 11-08-2023

Newsmax Live is behind a paywall now. It is NOT a Roku issue, BUT, if you have a TV with internet access, and you have subscribed to the new Newsmax TV, then use your TV's web browser to go to the Newsmax site. Enter all of your credentials, and you should get their new "LIVE" screen. I am watching it now on my Samsung with no problems. #Roku #Samsung #Newsmax

UPDATE NOV 8 2023 — Currently, on my ROKU, the Newsmax+ channel app is working as advertised. No problems.

Wednesday, I downloaded a web caster app using my cell phone what pain it was choppy slows sometimes it work give up uninstall app got update from this community and Newsmax + app for Roku was upgraded so I deleted the old one & reinstalled the new one sign up for Freebie 15 & then after that it is $4.99 I double check my Roku account and notice my banking info had expired so I updated that as well.  Now I can watch my NewsMax+   Even with it now being paid service it still cheaper than any of cable/sat packages ok have good day

  • I have Newsmax on Roku too, can get it but the closed caption is on the bottom of the screen, I have a Firestick and went to Assessibility trying to turn off, and it seems to not be a Firestick problem.

I have tried contacting Newsmax and of course haven’t heard back from them.  I read it could be an App problem, but would that be Newsmax or Roku?

    any suggestions?

It's a Newsmax problem. Yes, it's their app, which Roku has no control over.

I had closed caption on my ROKU after connecting to NEWSMAX+. On the remote for the ROKU, I used the * key and it brought up a small menu with one of the choices to shut off closed caption.

  • Not worth the hassle 😕

I tried to cancel and put in new subscription but now taking me for $10 a month and still won't allow access to their shows.  Tries to make me sign in with Roku password and then says wrong password.  I'm done!

Georgia_M then that's an issue that Newsmax needs to know, since they are the one that created and provides support for the app. There's nothing Roku can do to assist, as it's not their app, and have no access to the code the app uses.

Georgia_M, if Newsmax is telling you to sign in with your Roku password then they don't know what they're doing.  There's NO way Newsmax knows your Roku password.  Either that or you're misreading what they're trying to say.  I've said it before, but I'll say it again - you never need to enter your Roku password on a Roku device and it's useless on anything but a Roku website.

  • Go to where you manage Roku subscriptions and cancel your monthly NewsMax+. Go to NewsMax on your TV and go to Account Settings and Log Out. Go up to Live and click on Max+. Keep clicking until it brings you to your payment method. You have no choice but to subscribe to yearly. A notification comes up that your free trial is up and your new subscription should start. Hope this works for you as it did me and I've been trying since Thanksgiving
