Newsmax to end Free Streams. Don't Blame Roku

On November 1, 2023, looks like Newsmax will be going behind a paywall.  They will end their free streams on the various streaming LiveTV services like Roku and others.

You can sign up for Newsmax+ for a free trial to continue watching on mobile/streaming devices through a standalone app.

They will apparently offer Newsmax2 (N2) for streaming LiveTV that will include some headlines and some shows for now during the transition.

This was something they bandied about during the DirectTV conflict and looks like they went through with it.  It is mentioned in the above articles that this paywall decision is due to a new agreement with the cable companies that Newsmax can no longer be offered for free.

I actually bounce between Newsmax and Real Americas Voice (RAV), so looks like RAV will remain my primary channel for news. (available both via standalone channel/app and on LiveTV on Roku Channel and Pluto).

    I may be a little slow on this but if I were to pay the $50, is there no way to watch NewsMax+ on my TV through Roku?   I have spent the last hour trying to figure this out

      I think you may have to delete newsmax from your homescreen, then search for newsmax.  Then that new app will give you an option to pay.

      I would try deleting newsmax from your homescreen then search for newsmax and install new version app.  It should provide an option to pay.

      I signed up for NewsMax Plus and can not find the app. Tried calling customer service and my phone call had not been returned. Why the heck would NewsMax promote their new app and not have it available. Unbelievable. 😡

        I did too, and for now I am casting Newsmax+ from my phone to my television. Hopefully, they will have a new Newsmax+ app or they come up with a way where they can verify that we paid for a subscription and just connect under the old Newsmax.

      It does not look like Newsmax has updated their OTT channels/apps to support Newsmax+ yet.  Will need to wait for them to update or release a new channel/app for the Roku platform.

      I noticed the login screen for the Newsmax+ appears when trying to watch online at their site. Here you can login/signin/signup.   https://www.newsmaxtv.com/  You could then cast to your TV or through Roku, or use a HDMI cable from your laptop directly to your TV. (no Roku required)

      I like to use Web Video Caster for casting online content to my Roku devices.       I noticed when I installed the Newsmax app on my phone, it automatically had Newsmax+, Newsmax2, etc and played LiveTV fine without signing in. (did not create an account for Newsmax).  Did not seem to be a preview (timed), though this is likely to change.

      Almost seems that Newsmax kind of forgot their agreement went into effect today.  Either that, or the lack of having an available OTT channel/app ready to go for Roku and other streaming services shows users their newly found priority.

    I signed up for the free trial on Newsmax plus but guess what...there's no app !  What the heck !

    Who needs a free TRIAL when we already know what programs are on.  I'll continue to watch RAV & THE FIRST, honestly they BOTH have more indepth coverage and longer interviews.

    You are incorrect! I have Roku, today signed up for Newsmax Plus. I opened the Newsmax Ap on Roku. Go to live TV. Pick the person, i.e. Rob Schmitt and it works, date will display, November 1st.
