NewsMax channel not listed in Roku Live TV news group?

Anyone else have the problem on Roku Live TV when filtering to 'News' the NewsMax channel (190 on my devices) are not listed, however when I search (remote or remote voice) for it it's there and displayed??? BTW - I have 2 different Roku streaming devices and BOTH are having this problem? This 'raises my brow' with the problems we are ALL experiencing with censorship but I truly hope I'm mistaken. However, if Roku support comes back and reports this is their problem and '...simply an oversight...', etc. I'm gonna blow a gasket.

  • Thanks for getting back to us, Skiff.

Firstly, we appreciate your patience and understanding with this issue you are currently experiencing. As of the moment, we don't have any information or updates yet.

Furthermore, since this is an isolated case involving the Newsmax app on the Roku streaming platform, have you tried contacting the Customer Support of the channel provider themselves to see what further advice they'll give? If not, we highly suggest it.

Let us know how it goes!

    Kind regards,
    Carly

I have no idea about the inner workings of this stuff, but maybe NewMax failed to check a box to have themselves listed under News Groups.

Thank you for your perspective and reply. Having this perspective dialog is a shame in and of itself, nonetheless when I've watched NewsMax it's REAL journalistic "news" based on what I've seen? If you ARE 'barking up the right tree' as they say ... is the definition of (or not) of 'news' determined by Roku? I have no allegiance to NewsMax, nor an employee, stock holder, etc. I simply want the problem acknowledged and fixed.

    Hi Skiff,

We really do apologize for the delay in our solutions about this. We have communicated this case to our engineering team for further review.

We'll get back here and let you know how things turn out.

    Thanks,

RokuERey Thank you for your reply. I really do appreciate it and hope you can understand my frustration given imho this is a simple (and therefore should not take long to complete) information technology fix.

I look forward to your update.

        Skiff,

We really do appreciate your understanding, and we hear you. We have received updates about this from our engineering team. Newsmax is still available, but it's not in the News section. Try navigating to "All channels," and you'll be able to see it from there.

Let us know if you're to see it on your end.

        Thanks,

        Rey

  • A channel placement on Roku in most locations is more often than not accomplished by paying to be put there.

For example the "Featured Free" tab, all content there is put there based on a pay to play agreement with Roku team.

There is a difference between paid promotion and censorship. If you're left out it's only because you're cheap not because of democracy didn't want to give you a free place to be promoted.

Streaming video is not a democracy.

If your right then why wouldn't Roku simply tell me that? Instead over the last 4 months Roku asked me to send them problem details, e.g. screen shots, etc. of my reported problem.

BTW - Your Roku 'Rookie' status is self evident and gives me little confidence that you know what your talking about. Also, isn't a community like this about collaboration and helping each other? Let me help you. My reported issue to Roku has nothing to do with self promotion and everything to do with a customer (me) wanting a problem to be solved.

POOR customer service - 6 months since the issue was reported and still waiting on Roku to fix.
