Magellan TV No Picture on Homescreen App

Thought I'd mention this little issue I'm having. Not making it impossible to watch the channel but would be good to be address long term. 

I recently decided to give a 1 free trial of Magellan through the Roku Channel. I actually ordered through an email offer on my phone.

When I turned my TV on I was pleased to see Magellan tile on the home page which I believe is somewhat of a new feature. You used to have to access channel purchased through the Roku Channel within the channel itself. So it was cool to see it on the home screen.

Everything was working fine until I found a program I wanted to watch and after that all I would receive was audio. No video ever.

I decided to go back to the old way I did it. I went onto the Roku channel itself Magellan was there like any other streaming channel you'd have if you ordered it through Roku and I was pleased that the channel Magellan worked perfectly. No issues what so ever.

I went back and tried the channel through the home screen and still only audio the screen was black once i click start on a show.

I like this new ability to have channels I purchase on Roku show up on the home screen, but it looks like they are still ironing out the kinks with this new feature.

Has anyone else experienced this?

    You're having trouble with your Magellan on the home screen. The sound plays, but the video doesn't display, though it works on the Roku channel. Let's get more details on this. 

    • Have you tried opening other apps on the home screen to see if they do the same thing?
    • What steps have you already tried to fix the issue? 
    • When did the issue first start?
    • If possible, a video of the issue would be helpful.

    Sorry I'm just getting back to you. I made the post to hopefully make the Roku team awake that it was occurring to try to be helpful but alas I don't know how much I'll end up being. So I got the 1-week trial of Magellan and the week is over and didn't end up renewing. Nothing against Magellan I would continue to subscribe if it weren't for a few factors outside of anything to do with roku or Magellan.

    I'll do my best. 

    Question 1 - yes, all my other apps were working, and I continued to use them every day for that week.

    Question 2 - The steps I took were I went into the Roku channel itself. I'm familiar with the roku OS and knew the channel could be accessed within the Roku Channel and I just continued to watch the channel that way for the week. Overall, not a huge pain but I like the new feature, and I think it was a good idea to start including subscription purchased through the Roku Channel appear on the main home screen.

    Question 3 - The issue appeared upon the first time I used the service that way. Right after I subscribed. I checked it again one the next day and it was doing the same thing, so I didn't use that feature again.

    Question 4 - I wish i could have and would have if I saw the response sooner. Always like to help even if it's small.

  • I’ve seen similar glitches, sometimes the home screen shortcut doesn’t play video right but launching through the Roku Channel works fine. Sounds like a bug with the new feature, so hopefully Roku patches it soon.
