Live TV channel 21.2 and 21.3 keeps dissapearing

I have two OTA channels that sometimes get duplicated TV guide info from the base channel (eg. channel 21.1 will show the same info for 21.2 and 21.3 even though they are different channels). The other day I noticed that channels 21.2 and 21.3 were not showing up anymore even though they are programmed. I then disconnected the ethernet cable so I would not have an internet connection and saw that the missing channels suddenly came back. Plugging the ethernet cable back in then re-established the internet connection and then removed the channels again.

I suspect that whatever duplicate channel guide issue is happening for those channels is now causing them to be removed when the TV has an internet connection as it is only those two channels this is affecting. Is there a fix for this? I have already restarted the TV several times and reprogrammed the channels several times with no improvement.

  • I am having the same problem. My channel number 21.3 has disappeared. I have two Roku TVs and the one in the bedroom 21.3 comes on the one in the living room. I have rescan the channels and it still won’t come on.   if anyone has any help let me know. I unplugged the TV and let it sit for a couple of minutes and plugged it back in and re-scanned the channels. I even looked at my channel list and it is not there

Draper Media, the broadcaster for channel 16.1 (CBS) and Fox News channel 21,  no longer broadcasts these channels over the air.  I assume this because i live right in the middle of Salisbury, thus I assume it is not that the signal is too weak. I have not been able to pick those channels  up (over the air) for at least 7 months.  I have internet but see no reason to use up my bandwidth on local TV channels that traditionally have been broadcast via antenna.
I must think that this is just another form of discrimination against poor people who dont have internet.  Draper considers them just to poor too be consequential members of their audience. (or maybe they dont want poor people to see Stephen Colbert and then vote Democrat.)

Up until about 7 or 8 months ago i could pick up these channels via my antenna.

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community, aw9182!

Providing us with precise information about your concern is highly appreciated.

Can we please try to connect your Roku player to a different network connection to see if the same issue occurs? Perhaps a mobile hotspot would do.

Let us know how it goes and we'll continue assisting you from there.

    Best regards,
    Carly

Thanks for letting us know, aw9182.

In this instance, could you please confirm which specific Roku player are you having this issue with? Also, can we try to unplug your antenna for about 60 seconds and re-plug it again to see if this will make the channels 21.2 and 21.3 re-appear?

        Looking forward to your update!

        Best regards,
        Carly

  • I am having the exact same issue. I lost 21.2 and 21.3. Local channels that we watch a lot. Zip code 46733. Need this fixed asap!

Kas13 Glad to see I'm not the only one in my viewing area with this issue! Have you ever noticed in the past if the TV guide info for 21.2 (NBC) and 21.3 (MyTV) was the same as 21.1 (ABC)?

    Jay40,

    Thanks for this information!

We'll forward this to the appropriate Roku team for further investigation. In the meantime, can you also follow up on the channels affected and your Zip Code?

    Please keep us posted!

    Thanks,
    Rey

  • I also had channel 21.3 disappear about 3 months ago and found this post looking for an answer.  From the posts it appears to be an issue across zip codes.   I still get channel 21.2.  I have a DVR tuner attached to the same Philips Roku Smart TV with its own indoor antenna and it gets both channels 21.2 and 21.3.  I have tried multiple things already mentioned on this thread to restore channel 21.3 and bought a filter (to eliminate any "interference"), which also did not fix.  It is now May 2024 and wondering if an answer and fix is near?
