How to turn off Continue Watching section?

I don't want a Continue Watching section at all. I keep my home page nice and clean.

I don't want to have to remove every show either.

There should just be a permanent hide toggle.

How do I turn off Continue Watching permanently?

    Hi Community users!

Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community!

The "Continue Watching" feature on the Roku home screen is part of the Roku Operating System. Currently, there isn't an option to remove this feature. Kindly be advised that some publishers control what constitutes content completion (for example, end credits are shown). Once the arrangement has been completed, the channel makes a delete request to remove the content from the Continue Watching row.
For more information on this feature's functionality, you can check it out here.

We hope for your understanding regarding this.

    All the best,
    Kash

  • Hi, Community Users!

We hear you and we sincerely regret any trouble this may have caused you, but no worries! As a workaround, we'd be more than happy to provide you a resolution with the "Continue Watching" feature on your Roku streaming devices/TVs. On your remote, highlight the TV shows or movies you want to remove, then press the Star* button.

Furthermore, your convenience and satisfaction are what we aim for, so please be aware that we are currently working on a new update, and once this feature is fully rolled out, you will be able to have the option to completely hide this under Settings. In the meantime, we highly appreciate you bearing with us.

Please don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything else you'd want us to address; we'd be more than willing to listen and take action.

    Kind regards,
    Carly

I would like to request that Roku allow users to disable the "Continue Watching" section altogether, similar to the way that websites are required to allow people to opt out of advertising cookies.  At the very least, please allow us to "Hide" this section if we so desire.  Thanks

You want feedback? OK: This was a stupid as idea that never should have been implemented in the first place. At the very least it should be opt-in, and it sure as  should allow us to opt-out. Seriously: whatever idiot approved it should be fired. So should the imbecile who hired that idiot. And the people who keep making excuses for it should be ashamed of themselves.

  • I don't want an option to hide, because once you un-hide the information would still be there. I would like the option to disable. Huge privacy issue.

Weird, 2 days ago this feature turned itself off on both my 3900 & 3820, as my search & my Favorites are gone as well. I checked if it was a Software upgrade & it wasn't.

Sometimes items are added I don't care for at first, then I get used to them, the search has reverted back to where it was a few years back, no more saved or favorite list.

Appears to be something with my account I guess.

  • I also would like to remove the annoying CONTINUE WATCHING section at the top of my home screen. How can we remove it completely? There's no hide/view option anywhere on this feature. Please get rid of it.

      Hi Hennyfilms,

Welcome, and thank you for posting here at the Roku Community!

The "Continue Watching" feature on the Roku home screen is part of the Roku Operating System; thus, removing it is impossible. Please be advised that some publishers control what constitutes content completion (for example, end credits are shown). Once the arrangement has been completed, the channel makes a delete request to remove the content from the Continue Watching row.

Allow us to get rid of it. We may not want others in the house to see what has been watched. It's a privacy violation.

I'm also disappointed and annoyed with this "continue watching" section being so prominently displayed, while completely unwanted, with no way to change it. It mostly shows programs that I've already finished watching so it creates an aggravating experience by cluttering the homescreen with completely useless information. I never wanted this and I don't want everyone on the device seeing everything that anyone else has watched. Please add a way to hide this nonsense.

What?  Turn off the Band Width Saver?  To remove the "Continue Watching" on the Home Page?  You are giving very bad information.

        A REAL PRIVACY CONCERN

I too would like to turn off the "Continue Watching" on the Home Page.  The way it is now is creating a PRIVACY issue.  I do not want others within my home to see what others have been watching. Who is in charge of the developers at Roku and why didn't they take the privacy issue into consideration before having an unremovable feature added to the Roku Home Page.

Even if I wanted this feature (and I don't) the location of the "Continue Watching" at the top of the Home Page is a very poor design. It should be located further down on the Roku Home Page.

i wish you could turn this off. it is more intrusive than useful. if i am in the home menu to navigate to a show, it’s very unlikely to be the show i just watched.

Still can't disable this "function" after today's update. I have absolutely no confidence that Roku cares about what their customers want from the service.  (more evidence of that, I opted out of all the seasonal wallpaper updates, but nevertheless, my background changes every time)
