How to fix Spotify not launching on my Roku device

I have been listening to Spotify every day and today it said the same thing to me. Never added any new channels but all of a sudden there’s no room. The answer given to fix it was just about useless. And lately it has to download the app every time I want to use it unlike the other apps. I have no idea what it’s going on.

We would recommend making sure to remove all unused channels from your Roku TV. Once the channels are removed, try to perform a factory reset on your Roku TV, and then relink the Roku TV back to your Roku account. Please be aware that performing a factory reset on your Roku TV will require you to reauthenticate your channel subscriptions. Does this resolve the issue that you are experiencing?

I had the exact same problem and all my husband did was to check the system for updates. My Roku Express did have an update waiting to be installed and once it was updated everything worked fine again. If you haven't tried to update your system then go to your Home>Settings>System Update>Check Now. Also make sure you are updating the Roku system because when my husband was trying to explain how to update the system over the phone, I was updating just the Spotify channel and not the Roku. Updating the channel will not fix the problem, you need to update the Roku System program. I hope this was helpful and that it solves your issue.

I spent over 4 hours today with Spotify Support on Twitter.  After providing firmware info, app version info, uninstalling, restarting, reinstalling, relogging in, etc, etc - all the things described in this thread, I still have this problem.

This was never a problem until something changed in the authentication back in August/September (the same time this thread was opened.  I've been signing into Spotify on my Roku TVs perfectly fine since 2018.  Whatever changed is now causing the, "This account is linked with your Roku credentials" within the Spotify app.  Spotify says it is something Roku is doing.

I quote from Spotify Support, "At this point, it seems the issue may be linked to your Roku account. In this situation, we'd suggest reaching out to Roku support to see if it's something they can fix on their end. We'll be here if you need any info from us."

Worked exactly like you explained. It still quickly, with no options, linked Spotify to my Roku. So I may have this issue in the future again. At least I now know what works.

Finally, this actually worked.  Thank you. I went on laptop, signed into Spotify and logged out. Same time, deleted the names on Roku under Spotify.  I restarted system and was finally able to log into Spotify on Roku. Then i signed in on my other devices. 😀

RFGouveia is it working on other Roku devices, or are the other devices in your home something other than Roku? If the latter, that points to problems with Spotify specifically on Roku devices, and Spotify will need to resolve the problem with their channel. They are the ones responsible for the functionality of their channel. 

If it's working on other Roku devices, then that points to a problem specifically with the TCL TV. If removing the channel did nothing, I have to ask if you rebooted the TV after removing the channel and before reinstalling it. And by rebooting, I don't mean turning the TV off and on. You either have to use the menu to restart the TV, or pull the power cord for 30 seconds.

If you did that, you may need to factory reset your TV and set it up from scratch. All channels your currently have will automatically reinstall once you link the TV back to your Roku account, although you will need to re-enter any user authentication in channels that require it. 

If a factory reset doesn't resolve the issue, then there's a hardware issue with the TV, and TCL is who you would have to contact for resolution, assuming it's still under warranty.

-Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-does this issue occur on a specific channel? if so, what channel and what version/build is the channel (this can be found be selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing

Once we have this information, we will be able to pass it along to the appropriate Roku team for further investigation.

I have the same problem on Tcl tv with roku   Removed rebooted And added back.  Still want work . Want buy another TcL tv again. They are **bleep** they don’t supoirt .

I am having the exact same issue starting yesterday. I can't log in to spotify. The message states; "this account is linked with your Roku credentials" can't do anything on Spotify account, it is locked up.

The issue occurs when, on the Home Screen, I navigate to the Spotify app icon.  I press ‘enter’ on the Roku remote to launch the app.  The app launches then prompts to select a user.  I am the only user so the options are Add New or my User Name.  I select my user name, press enter and then nothing happens.  It remains on that screen.  I have left it for hours just to see if it ever changes, and nothing.

I did nothing to link my Spotify logon to my Roku credentials.  A few weeks ago Roku just displayed a message indicating my Spotify login has now been linked with my Roku credentials.  I don’t use the same credentials.  An option to confirm or cancel would be helpful.

This appears to be a major issue.

I just changed to a Roku Ultra and suddenly the message came up.

Spotify is not on my Subscriptions in my account.

tried rebooting and updating but does not work.

Can you please specify the exact issue you are experiencing? What are the steps to reproduce the issue? 

Try removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more.

Does this clear up the issue you are seeing? Please keep us posted what you find out.

This has never fixed my Insignia Roku TV. Spotify stopped working since 10.5 update. Before that, beautiful 😔
