Yes I tried it that way with my phone and seems to work that way. For some reason wouldn’t work right through the hallmark app on Roku tv. So atleast I figured that out thanks!!!!
When you subscribe through a 3rd party service like Roku (or Sling, Amazon, YouTubeTV, etc.) your subscription is generally with that third party, not the premium channel you want to watch. There may be some exceptions, but this usually means you can only watch that channel via that third party, not on some other platform. On Roku this generally means you can only access your subscription through The Roku Channel, as the channel's own dedicated channel app may not recognize your subscription.
If you subscribe directly with the premium service on its website, you then will be able to view the channel on any platform it supports: website via web browser on computer or mobile device, dedicated app on mobile devices, or dedicated app on supported streaming devices.

I have a paid subscription to Hallmark Movies Now and cannot access it through the Roku Channel. When I access the channel it offers my the option for a free trial.
