Fast Forward and Rewind Issue - RokuTV and HDHomeRun DVR Recordings

When re-winding or fast-forwarding DVR recordings watched on the HDHomerun application on my Roku TV I get a blank (black) screen.  I do not see any of the re-wind or fast-forward controls on screen ...

    I reached out to Silicondust today and they provided the following response “At the moment this is a limitation of the Roku version of the HDHomeRun app, but our development team is looking into improving performance for a future version.”

I recently switched from cable tv to Roku streaming.  I have two Roku Express 4K devices.  I record programs from network TV, but when I later watch the programs, when I fast forward thru commercials, it doesn't show the recording movie forward.  No way to know when the commercials are over.  I am constantly "guessing" when to restart the program, it is frustrating and annoying.  Is there a fix for this yet?  Not acceptable!!!!

    MarshaW, there's no fix and I doubt there ever will be.  Roku requires a set of thumbnails to be created for a video to be shown during FF/Rewind.  The devices can't create them on the fly.  Maybe someday, but don't hold your breath.  It's possible to create them yourself, but it's not trivial.
