cursor wont move to any apps on roku tv screen-batteries are new

I have  tried to reboot by unplugging tv and roku from the electrical outlet.   I can later view the roku screen with its many apps, but am unable to move the cursor on the roku screen.   I have "active" wifi and internet connections.   help! thanks-

    Do you have a voice remote with a microphone button?  Assuming it's not a rechargeable remote, have you tried new batteries?
