Content on the Roku Channel Will Not Play

Tried to post on the previous thread on this same problem but apparently it is closed to replies even though no solution has been provided.  Last post was on ‎08-10-2023.  So now I find mysekf having the same problem as everyone else has described with no solution yet.   I moved my Roku stick to a new location, new ISP.  Now the Roku Channel will not play anything.  Prior to moving thw stick I had not seen this problem.  Press play and it just stays on the episode screen.  Doesn't matter which show, none of them will play on Roku Channel.  All the other apps on the Roku stick are working fine.  Only Roku Channel has this problem.  And of course the software is up to date and the stick has been restarted.

Before my condo switched to fiber, I had exactly the same issue with the Roku Channel. Many videos simply wouldn't work. I never really used the channel so it's more of a technical curiosity for me.

        I assumed it was because:

        1) Roku Channel did a latency check (for whatever reason) and the condo LAN somehow failed.

        2) Roku Channel did some sort of IP blacklist (like many content providers) and some MDU-type network installs were simply blocked.

Regardless, after the condo switched to fiber the Roku Channel started working. For now. They're going to upgrade in December and we'll see if it gets blocked again.

I have a fire stick for my tvs and i have the roku channel on them but this morning neither would play the content.  The roku channel comes on but none of the channels will play their content.  I watch roku daily and would like to know if you are having a problem right now and if it will be resolved soon.  Thanks. Also one of the k-channels was abruptly taken off.  Please bring it back I watch all the k-channels and Asian channels.

        Hi corbanjoel,

Thanks for letting us know about this. We'd like to take a closer look into it.

Are you seeing any error messages every time you access content? We would also recommend removing, restarting, and reinstalling the app to see if there are differences.

        Please keep us posted.

        Thanks,

        Rey

So, what you are telling me is that I can NOT take my (Canadian account) Roku device on vacation with me and access the Roku Channel, even if I only vacation in the USA?  I believe Roku claims differently.

vvotary  , can you point to a webpage that says that you can move a device from Canada to the US without having any issues?  In general, moving a device that was set up in one region to another will cause all kinds of problems.  If you travel back and forth a lot you may want to have two accounts and possibly two devices since the only way to switch accounts on a Roku device is to factory reset it.

It’s really not that big of an issue. I just remember when purchasing the first of 4 current devices and recommending the Roku to many others, part of the idea was the ability to watch wherever you had internet, even a hotspot would work. I guess perhaps I never really asked about travelling across borders, it was never thought of as a problem point. I know with Prime, I get different shows that may not be available in each country but it still works and some of the shows work everywhere. I assume ‘rights’ are an issue but when in the USA I would assume I can watch whatever is available in the USA. Apparently not so I will not try to make it work. A lot of channels do not stop working and I am not attempting to do anything wrong so I will just wait until I return to Canada for the Roku Channel to start working again.

Roku has certainly been restarted several times.  Firmware is up to date.  Other channels on Roku work.  As originally described none of the programs on Roku channel will play.
