Constant screen flashes, constantly have to change display settings.

I have a Roku Ultra LT 4801RW (purchased 11/2024) on a 2019 LG TV in my RV. I’m constantly having to switch the display settings from 720 to 1080 to Automatic due to continuous screen flashing.

Just now I turned the TV & Roku on & the screen was flashing so bad I couldn’t hardly maneuver through the menus to change the display setting AGAIN. The setting was on “Automatic 1080” and I changed it to 720p & the flashing stopped.

Why is this flashing constantly happening where I have to change the display settings back & forth?

    Hey dosbirn,

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!

If you have the Auto Refresh Rate enabled, try disabling it (this should stop the screen from flashing).

    Settings/System/Advanced System Settings/Auto-Adjust Display Refresh Rate/ [Off ]

We hope this helps. Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to assist you.

    Cheers,

Thank you for the fast response. However, my “Auto-adjust display refresh rate” is already set to OFF.

My screen appears to be flashing again but much less frequently than it was yesterday (when I made this post).

I will turn the refresh rate ON, exit & wait a bit & then turn it OFF again & see if that makes a difference.

Actually, turning it ON seems to have stopped the flashing. I’ll leave it ON & see if this fixes it. Thanks!

Turning “Auto-adjust display refresh rate” on & off again didn’t fix it. I still alternate between 720 & 1080 when it starts flashing. I try to leave it on 1080 after switching it.
I have a feeling it has something to do with my LG TV resetting something because I have Rokus on a Vizio LED, Samsung LED & Panasonic plasma TVs & they never do this. It always seems to happen right after I turn on the LG TV or a few minutes after. I looked through the LG set up but couldn’t find anything related to resolution or display refresh.

No, nothing has worked. See my latest reply. Do you have an LG TV? It might be my problem.

      Hi dosbirn Joylene6,

      Thanks for the follow-up.

Could you share a video clip or photo with us? Additionally, is this happening on all channels that you are trying to access, or is it on a specific channel?

      Appreciate your help!

Sometimes it will happen before I even open any app, the ROKU home page flashes. I have to go to settings to change the Display Type to get it to stop.

I’ll try to get a video the next time it happens. I have the ROKU Ultra box connected to my main HDMI splitter for all 4 LG TVs in my motorhome so I’ll turn on one of the other TVs at the same time to see if it’s only related to one TV.
