Comet TV not on streaming store

Is it no longer available on Roku?

  • Hi, Community users!

Thanks for reaching out here in the Roku Community.

In addition to what our Community Guru provided above, the app Comet TV is no longer being offered on the Roku streaming platform.

If you want this available on the Roku streaming platform, we highly recommend contacting the channel provider and letting them know you'd like their app back.

    Warm regards,

I just discovered this also. I watch this every day. It says it has been removed by Roku.

Same here, everyday for the last couple years. Total BS. I see HULU has Xflies and Buffy, and perhaps they forced Comet to remove the app. We deserved a warning at least, and certainly some answers.

I agree… Hey Roku… why did you drop Comet… one of your best apps?

You owe us an explanation… better yet, correct your mistake and return the app. Your decision is not winning you customers. How about giving us an email where we can address our grievance.

  • I just got this message too. I could not re-install Comet. This is the main app I stream in Roku. If this is Roku’s choice… I will not buy another Roku tv (and I had planned on doing just that). This is a BIG mistake by Roku.

It used to be on Stirr tv and it changed owners and disappeared. That's why I bought

a Roku stick. You can still watch on your pc. What a joke

Good call, but I suspect COMET TV made the choice. Probably sold out to pressure from HULU, which streams X-files and Buffy (I see now). Regardless, always comes down to $.

Comet is still available via their website. I agree, that's an inconvenient means to watch the Buffy Channel. I wrote them at this web address and requested they reinstall their Roku Channel.

Hopefully, enough Roku Users will write to motivate them to reinstall the channel.

Thanks for the info. It was a Comet decision then, not Roku.

  • Comet TV app won’t connect on Roku. Other apps are working. Comet TV works on other devices fine so it isn’t down. Tried resetting Roku, the TV, the WiFi connection, pretty much everything.  Any ideas?

Do you mean how it just says "Back Soon" forever?

I had the same issue with Comet TV a few days ago! Rebooting everything didn't help me either. Did you try removing and re-adding the Comet TV channel? That finally worked for me. In the meantime, you can browse online stores for cool black door handles to spruce up your place while you wait to get Comet TV back on!

Some providers feed their content to different devices from different servers (not always even located in the same place), so the fact it works on other devices doesn't mean anything specific for Roku devices.

I've had the same problem on both my Roku devices.  It shows a "Be Back Soon" animation in an infinite loop.  Sometimes it'll show what's going to be appearing next in a blue box on the bottom of the screen, showing that it's talking to a service somewhere, but the actual program never appears.

I've tried rebooting, uninstalling/reinstalling the app, and nothing changes.  I last remember successfully watching Comet last Friday (6/21)

We ALL want Comet back on Roku. Talk to Sinclair Broadcast Group....they're the reason we can't have nice things.....for many reasons.

Roku does not have that kind of pull. Sinclair is out to make money and get people to watch the TV stations that carry it and PAY Sinclair for that right. If Sinclair let people stream it for free, TV stations would drop it and Sinclair would lose money

A year or so ago, Newsmax was forced to go subscription streaming because the various cable/satellite services threatened to drop it because they don't want to compete with free
