Color issues when trying to watch anything

Washed out colors when trying to watch something from any of my apps (Netflix, hulu, prime, etc.). The color is normal for anything else until I play a show or movie. It is a dark red, green, blackish color. Please help

  • Hi RustyPane,

We're happy to have you here in the Roku Community!

We understand that you are having display issues with your device. We're happy to help.

To provide you with an accurate resolution, could you provide us with the details requested by RokuCarly in the above posts?

Additionally, we recommend performing the below steps to see if you can resolve the issue:

    1. Power-cycle your Roku player: unplug it from the wall power outlet and plug it back in.
    2. Check for updates: Go to Settings > System > Software Update > Check Now
    3. Restart your Roku player: Go to Settings > System > Power (if you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step) > System Restart.

    Please keep us informed.

    All the best,
    Janadee

I am having the exact same issue now! My 55’ TCL Roku tv is only 2 years old. It’s driving me crazy!

Same issue on my TCL 55S425-CA. Any fixes yet ?? Netflix Roku app has all the colors washed out. Just tried the Netflix app on my Xbox Series X and all is fine and normal there. Happened after updating to 14.5 .

  • Agree, It is ONLY when using an APP to watch shows.. My screan is crisp still screen, when images move the color dims and distorts to almost imposed.. My Roku was an x-mas gift in 2018.. Its not that old..

Thanks for sharing this concern with us here at the Roku Community, KT13.

Would you mind specifying which Roku device this is? Also, if a lot of channels are affected by this display issue, kindly perform a power cycle on your device by unplugging the device from the power source for approximately 60 seconds and plugging it back in. If there is still no luck, kindly perform a factory reset on your device by going to Settings > System > Advanced System Settings > Factory Reset. This should fix issues with color distortion and minor display issues. Please be aware that once a factory reset has been performed, you'll need to activate it as though it were a new device.

We hope this works. Please keep us in the loop.

    Sincerely,
    Janadee
