Closed caption keeps shutting off

While using apps I noticed the closed caption turns off constantly. I either need to restart or reset. Sometimes if I turn off the caption and turn it back on then rewind it starts back. I tried the accessibility option in roku and I have tried a hard reset. Sometimes the caption also randomly switches to another language specifically French. It is very annoying to have to constantly reset the closed caption.

  • I'm having a very similar issue just lately as well with multiple streaming apps. It seems like every time I jump back or rewind, the closed captions disappear. If I then rewind or jump back again and press play they come back...🤪🤷🏼‍♂️🤔🫣. Always on is selected for CCs, and this is happening on two different Roku Express 4K+'s. I literally just set up the second one in place of the first one thinking maybe there was something wrong with it (the 1st one 🤪), so all of the apps have then freshly installed... And I'm pretty sure it's happening on multiple apps (currently Paramount Plus). No offense but this seems to be a Roku issue/glitch that I feel like requires some kind of patch/update?

      **UPDATE/INTERESTING: I went into the Roku settings, and changed the closed caption text size to medium from default... And now it seems like when I rewind or jump back the captions aren't disappearing anymore...🤷🏼‍♂️🤔🤪. Stay tuned. So far I've only tested this in the Paramount Plus app, which I know definitely had the "glitch" I explained above, when I rewinded my show.**

  • I am having a problem with captions also.  It only happens on the Peacock app.  Sometimes captions will just not play and will come back if I restart the show.  It will say none for captions even when I know there are captions available.  Other times it shows captions are selected by doesn’t show them.  Either have to restart the show or sometimes have to do a Roku system restart.  Not sure but might be a Peacock problem.

      It looks like you are also experiencing an issue with the Closed captioning on the Peacock app. And thanks for trying the steps needed to fix the concern. 

      Just to confirm, does the issue occur with all content in the app, or only with specific content?

      Yes it happens on crave no matter the series or movie being watched. The French issue was on prime.
