I will probably get around to finally fixing the public Channel Store version to meet Roku's new criteria. The private one will definitely go away. I'm toying with the idea of making it a 99 cent subscription.

Add me to the list of those who would happily pay. I mean, I just paid $3.99 to install the WeatherFaux screensaver, only to find out that the main screenshot is misleading. The white text goes over bright, HD backgrounds, not only is it not very readable but the colorful backgrounds destroy the purpose of a screensaver for me, it's like leaving your TV on 24/7.
I can't even find a good clock screensaver; the Roku one works well but is too bright. The basic Cloc pauses on me too often, which is a problem b/c it's sometimes what I rely on to tell time after jumping out of bed.

Yep! 99% of the screensavers are **bleep**. Roku REALLY needs to get rid of most of them.

The freezing issue "struck" me today, on the very first full day of using the regular CLOC screensaver. I got home this evening about 7pm to find the clock on the tv frozen at 3:34. Argh. :smileymad:
I have installed the Clever Clocks package (for one-time charge of $2.99) as a temporary replacement until renojim is able to get CLOC repaired & replaced ;) I don't like the Clever Clocks nearly as well, but at least it gives you several choices--and it does have the temperature for your zip code, so that's something.
I have the retro "flip clock" on (which always reminds me of Groundhog Day) :smileylol: and it has the temperature up in the corner. I like the idea of the Nixie clock, but it's just too bright on the screen for my eyes.
Anyway, it's...something, until ol' familiar is back. :smileywink:

Thanks for this tip. I had tried the Nixie Clock (as a free, standalone screensaver) and it also didn't work for me (and there was no temperature displayed), so I didn't want to pay for the full Clever Clocks package after that.
But I just did, and it is well worth it for now.

That would be great, I would hate to lose it. That green bundle of information "ponging" around our tv screen has become a mainstay! I for one would be more than happy to pay a subscription. I'm guessing you are talking about a 99 cent/month. I would hope that if you do add the subscription price, you would also consider allowing a 'lifetime' option.
Forgive me if this is an ignorant question, but do you have other Roku channels?

bellsfolly83, most of my other channels are games:
Blackjack
Double Draw Solo Poker
Maj Jongg
Video PokerI also was the developer for Radio Paradise
I was the original developer for SomaFM, but I turned it over to another developer a while ago. It's still one of my favorite music channels.
I've developed a slew of private channels for myself, friends, and family and I'm pretty upset that they're going away.
- bellsfolly834 years agoBinge Watcher
That's cool. Soma FM is one of my favorite music channels, especially at Christmastime. Will check out Radio Paradise.
Yes, it's a complete bummer that the private channels are going away. Especially for people like yourself who have invested so much time and effort into them. As I understand it, it was the 'after hours' stuff that was the final straw, although that had been going on for many years.

I've loved this screen saver for years and have used the private version for quite a while. I understand wanting to charge a subscription and while I don't mind paying for a quality product like yours, I *hate* the subscription model. I'd much rather pay a larger around ($4.99?) up front. I understand *why* developers like the subscription model, but speaking for myself I don't think I would ever pay for a product of this type using this model. I don't do it on my iphone and I wouldn't do it on my Roku. Good luck and thanks for the years of usage of a GREAT product. And as I said I don't mind paying for it....I just hate getting into monthly obligations like that.

Here's my 2ยข Jim...
I really hope you get the public screensaver up to Roku's new criteria. I'm a very long-time user and would hate to see it go.
Go ahead and charge a small subscription price to make it worth your while. Hey, you've got my $.99. :smileylol:
Thanks!Larry

Thank You Sir for the wonderful CLOC on my Roku device, I must admit I never saw any weather info, but didn't care either, I just loved my red floating CLOC !!!
Now, I miss it so much, and would pay for it, rather not do a subscription, but a one-time or lifetime for a good amount is fine.
I just want my red CLOC back !!!

I agree wholeheartedly.

I have had to set all my screensavers (three tvs) to the simple black screensaver (the others are too bright for sleeping, too repetitive AND too annoying) and will be buying three digital alarm clocks to put under each tv. Such a waste and I would gladly have paid for the screensaver itself to do this job. I miss it so much, and Roku just doesn't 'get' that the screensavers they offer are lacking what CLOC offered.

I used CLOC from my very first day on Roku, and have used CLOCPRI since you started it. I loved the cuckoo! I hope you can reconfigure it to suit Roku, but even if you can't, I'm grateful for the years that I had it. Thank you.

I loved the cuckoo too!

Let me add to the chorus of folks who would be happy
to pay for it.
I miss it.
THANKS!

Today, the CLOC (private) screensaver disappeared on one of my TVs and was replaced with a pretty, but useless fishtank. Strange that only 1 of 3 got the removal so far.
Any chance you'll be releasing a public version? The $.99 sub perhaps? Thanks, renojim.

It's on my list. :smileyhappy: I have to recover from the myriad of my other private channels that Roku so graciously removed. I'll probably get started on it next week, but no promises.

As a LONG time user, I'm holding out hope for a one time purchase price instead of a subscription, but I totally understand. Do what's best for you. I won't get into a subscription (whereas I *do* make one-time purchases), but if it is better for the author monetarily, I get it. If that happens thanks for YEARS of the best screensaver on Roku--for FREE!

Take my money, please! I loved waking up to the time and temp on my TV!

I have three TVs (living room, bedroom, den/office). They all dropped CLOC Private yesterday (on 2/23 (I was expecting they would on 3/1. Oh, well.). But it happened 'one at a time' over about 24 hours. I suppose Roku has to broadcast/download its changes on a staggered basis. But rest assured, all three of them did change.

Any way you could swap them out and rename them? ๐ค ๐๐๐

According to the author of CLOC, the whole app has to be rebuilt to current "standards". This is not a simple fix, sadly.
- mshm994 years agoBinge Watcher
please fix it . I will pay
- wildsprite4 years agoRoku Guru
I would pay a one time fee for this to have it back but not a sub. please do a one time fee. I'm willing to pay up to $10 to have this back renojim

I added Dashcoop to replace the Cloc screensaver. I paid a one time fee of $4.99 plus sales tax. You can dim the text and change the color to green. However, I still prefer the Cloc screensaver.
