Can I watch shows on the Roku Mobile App or does it only function as a remote?
I don’t want to stream from my phone to my TV , I have app. On T,V . Already only want to watch on my phone , why won’t it let me !

You're right. The Roku app is mainly an alternate remote control. The only thing you can stream via the Roku app is non-premium content from The Roku Channel.
Many of your channels may have their own installable phone apps you can use directly.
The Roku app (at the time of this writing) does not allow streaming of Roku shows directly on the mobile phone even if it is non-premium content from the Roku channel. They have taken off the option of Roku Channel from their mobile app. So now this mobile app can only be used to stream shows to a Roku device (i.e. TV etc.).
