Cameras aren't recording important activity. Can't keep family safe?ty

So I noticed there wasn't any new activity in my events page on my Roku cameras so I went out and walked around my property and got in my car which should have triggered both cameras to record. However when I got back inside neither had a recorded any of the movement which makes me wonder how much am I missing about what's going on in my property? How am I supposed to keep my family safe if I don't know what is going on when I am trusting the fact that I have cameras for accountability? If this is the best Roku can do they're fired.
