Audio at Beginning of youTube video sped up

Starting this morning anytime I play a video on YouTube the first few seconds of audio are sped up like its trying to catch up to the video or something. This is only happening on YouTube. I’ve tried power cycling, uninstall-restart-reinstall, and the problem persists. Anyone else encountered this or have any idea how to fix it?

  • I have had the same problem for months now on my TCL Roku tv. Months. It happens on every video and when there is an ad before the video, it happens then.  Video and audio.

  • Same here, I've had the sped up issue for the past month or so.

Been having the same issue, and it's insanely frustrating. Only happens on Roku decides, so I seriously doubt it's a YouTube issue. Please Roku, fix this.

I've had the exact problem for a few weeks, it's very annoying. Hope it's fixed soon!

  • TCL Roku tv owner here dealing with the same issue for months now. I use YouTube daily for music, news, podcasts... This is pretty annoying. Would love a fix or at minimum acknowledgment.

Happens on all of my Roku devices and TVs. It's been this way for months now.

i think it's a trick of youtube videos when you listen to music. If you don't want to be inconvenienced, you can use spotify premium gratis instead when listening to music

I'm still experiencing this issue. The first few seconds of video speed through with no audio, then it stops and locks up. Always on you tube.  Loading a Netflix vid then coming back to you tube fixes it once in a while, but usually a reboot is required.

The problem happens in Netflix as well.  Any fixes for this? Software is up to date.

  • Yes! I have 3 TCL Roku TVs and they all play the sound fast at the beginning of every YouTube video! Super annoying. I have three Fire Sticks 4k and the YouTube app does not do this. Only on the Roku YouTube App. I have changed all the sound settings and am using a soundbar and AV Receiver. Can't find a fix. I am updated to latest OS version.

  • Ditto for me on the stick, the hitachi tv, the tcl tv, & the set top box.  Specific to roku / YouTube app.

Have done all the normal tech support restart type **bleep** & nothing changes.  Happened build 91000130.

Any update on a resolution? I would be happy to run some beta software & try to help fix it.

Roku simply does NOT care. Period.  They want to sell new products & give clueless cookie cutter answers that obviously come from a very untrained call centre.  Roku only wants to sell units, supporting them costs selling them makes money & that is all they want.  No longer recommending them in my job.

Issue is issue is still happening Dec 30th, 2020 - Almost Dec 31st. Hello Roku Support?

  • As I have said before & all sarcasm aside the simply don't care.  It doesn't generate money for YouTube or Roku to fix it, only costs money.  No new revenue being generated means no money to fix the issue.  They have no motivation to fix it (either company).  If all of us with the problem were paying large amounts of recurring revenue for them they would.  Simply we collectively could all become apple & Netflix drones and it wouldn't impact their bottom lines enough to bother with keeping us.

That's it! I ordered a Chromecast. This problem has been going on for 6 months. It's entirely unacceptable.

I've been thrilled with my Roku with the exception of this issue. I listen to youtube daily so this stutter has been beyond frustrating. I'm unimpressed with Roku's response to the problem.

I'm out. I recommend you do the same.

Got mine Chromecast at Home Depot today.  Came with remote and I can choose more sound options.  Sad really, been using Roku since 2014-2015 winter.  Loosing a customer that's been around more than five years has no impact, but I'm sure they will hook more people into purchasing an unsupported product to replace me.
