Apps not working since today's update 6/11

4640x

14.6.4 Build 9909.29

GC13.16.10

Issue: 52 233 475

Tried to open YouTube but it crashes back to the home screen.  Tried Amazon and other apps but they say: "cannot load the app from the internet, check network connection".  Checked the network and it is fine and Roku streaming channels work.  Checked last software update and it was today.

Rebooted twice... Reset the network once.  Have not done a full system reset yet...

  • Because some OS updates introduce problems, I cancelled out of the manual update to 14.6.4.9909 then came directly here to see if anyone was reporting issues. I'm gonna hold off on the update for now and keep monitoring for better news.

    Hey Bob-1972

    Thanks for flagging this here!

To further investigate this issue, could you please send a photo or video of what appears on your Roku TV screen when you attempt to access the apps? Could you also verify that your Roku device is properly connected to the internet? You may visit this link.

    Looking forward to your response!

Above is the error I get for just about every channel. YouTube just flips back to the Home screen.

My network is hardwired and working fine.  As I stated earlier the Roku Streaming channels work (Miramax Streaming for example) and the test shows that it is fine.

        Thanks for this infoBob-1972,

We'd like to coordinate this with our Roku team. Please send some details:

Roku device model, serial number, and device ID. (found in Settings > System >About)
Tracker ID and OS version, and build (press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)

        Please keep us posted!

  • Same problem..I just tried a cache clear..

    1. Clear the Roku's cache. On your Roku remote, press
Home five times, Up once, Rewind two times, and
Fast Forward two times to clear the Roku's cache. It can take several minutes to half an hour to complete.

not sure if that makes a difference yet. So far so good.

  • Omg I thought it was just me!! My whole system stopped working then I had to factory reset it and now it just won’t let me get past the login screen! 😭😭😭 it’s so frustrating

      Hey, YazzD.

      Thanks for reaching out here!

We see that you are experiencing playback issues with your Roku, and we're here to help!

Can you share what error message you see on the screen when trying to set it up again? Also, before factory resetting the device, is the error happening on all channels or only on a specific one?

      We'll anticipate your reply!

  • So it doesn't matter what streaming service i pick on my roku tv, as soon as i pic a show/movie to watch they all buffer to 25% and then nothing. Yet on my fetch box they all work. It's not my accounts as they work on my fetch box. So why have I got a roku tv if it doesn't work...

      Thanks for sharing this issue!Seafordboys

I understand that when you open a show, it only buffers and won't load. To assist us in investigating, have you seen any error messages on the screen? A video or photo would be very helpful.

      I'll wait for your response!

Try performing a System restart under Settings->System->Power.
