Apple TV app network unavailable error

I have several Roku TVs and the Apple TV has suddenly stopped working. I now get "Network Unavailable" errors on every device. Apple TV works fine on my iPad and laptop. I have updated drivers on all my Roku devices. I have reset my router. The problem appears to be specifically with Apple TV through Roku. Anyone else having this issue?

  • I’m having issue with this as well. Removing channel, system restart, and add Apple TV back didn’t resolve the issue.

Yep. I tried removing and reinstalling the app - same result. As I posted earlier, on other devices (e.g., computers, iPads) the apps worked fine, ruling out network connectivity issues. This was specifically a Roku issue (on all of my Roku TVs). Strangely, it suddenly started working again.

  • Same with me. So frustrating as I started a free 7 day trial within the app 🤦🏻‍♀️

  • Same issue here. "Network unavailable" no fixes over tried have worked.

  • Same. It was an intermittent issue a week ago but now seems to be consistently happening.

I started getting this tonight. I tried un-/re-installing (without resetting the Roku in between) and that didn't help. I suppose it is a problem on the AppleTV servers.

        Hi  monteb

        Welcome to the Roku Community!

To ensure the process of removing and re-adding the Apple TV channel is successful, make sure to restart your device before adding the channel back in. from the Settings menu by navigating to  Settings > System > System restart > Restart. However, if it still has no dice and the issue is only with the channel alone, this is a good indication that there is likely an issue within that specific channel that will need to be addressed with an update from the channel publisher. Channels on Roku are created and maintained by each channel publisher. In this case, you'll want to reach out to Apple TV support directly to share your feedback.

        Warm Regards,
        Lianna

    Thanks for the post.

Try removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more.

In addition, have you tried signing out of the Apple TV channel and then signing back in again to see if that helps the issue you are experiencing?

Please keep us posted what you find out and we will be able to assist you further.

    Thanks,
    Danny

I’m having the same issue and removing the Apple TV app and restarting the Roku doesn’t fix the issue. All my other apps work just fine so it’s not a connectivity issue

Happening to me as well. Was in the middle of watching. Tried all the things including Audio trick. Not working.

I did all of those things, but got the same results. As it turned out, while testing I discovered that several other apps were having this same issue (Hulu, HBO MAX, Vudu). Again, on any other device connectivity to these services worked normally. Interestingly, one day after posting this message, all of the apps starting working on all of my Roku TVs. No idea...

Interesting. Mine worked on all of my other devices (e.g., computer, iPads). Only my Roku TVs seemed to be affected. As I posted earlier, a day or so after posting this message it started working. Hopefully, yours did too!

  • I’m having the same thing starting at about 8:10p EDT. I’ve powercycled and uninstalled everything, no dice.

  • I’m having issue with this as well. Removing channel, system restart, and add Apple TV back didn’t resolve the issue.

      Hi jamesdecker555,

Congrats on your first post in the Roku Community!

We would be more than happy to assist you with the Apple TV issue with your Roku device and thanks for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you've done so far.

A few questions here to better understand what you're experiencing:

      1. What kind of issue are you experiencing?
      2. When did this issue first start occurring?
      3. Are you being prompted with an error message?
      4. What Roku model device are you using?
      5. Are all other streaming channels playing content normally?
      6. Did you make any changes to your connection recently?

We look forward to hearing from you and looking closely into this issue. Thank you!

      Best regards,
      Mary

  • I spent about 1-2 hours with Apple Support on this. What I discovered is that my content filtering settings on my router were causing the issue.
