Apple TV all not loading.

My Apple TV app won't load; it just cycles back to the screen where I started. This is a new problem. I'm using a Roku Sharp TV. I've tried updating the app, as well as removing the channel and re-in...

    When you removed it, did you reboot the Roku before you reinstalled it?

    1. Remove the app.
    2. Reboot the Roku. Don't turn it off and back on. Do a restart via the menu.
    3. Reinstall the app.

    All three steps in that order.

    There is a bug in Apple TV app causing this problem and rebooting the roku/reloading the app won't help. Sure it may help some, but many people have reported issues with the Apple TV app where most programs won't play but a random select few do.

    This problem has existed for many months and why both Roku and Apple fail to acknowledge it is a mystery.

    A fix has been been posted to change the HDMI audio setting. Roku has changed the menu structure so the previously posted directions can't be followed. To make the change using the new menu: 

    Settings —> Audio —> Digital output format —> Custom —> Dolby

    So far this is the best solution for me. I made the change specified, then I tried several different shows I haven’t watched yet and every one loaded with no issues! Good find!

    Changing the audio settings to custom dolby fixed the problem for me immediately. I do not know if it will hold. Time will tell.

      This fix has proven to have fixed this problem for three days now. I tried everything else to know avail, so I highly recommend this change to the audio settings. It takes less than a minute.

        I believe Apple released a channel update within the last day or two. I tested Apple TV with a couple of movies from my library on my Ultra 4800 and had no playback issues. Both movies were 4K, one had Atmos (I didn't look at my AVR for the other, so perhaps it was as well), one was HDR10 and the other was Dolby Vision. Both played fine.

      I give up. I cannot get the 'free trial offer' to continue.  Two nights ago, I signed up--gave my financial info to Apple, made password, and watched 2 enjoyable Ted Lasso episodes, then NOTHING but going in circles with -give id & password -over & over what 30 xs !!! chatted with Roku----nothing helped---called the next day---nothing. Spoke with about 3 reps. They transferred me to Apple -2 reps --nothing! Very frustrating.I have used Roku for 10+ years and never had any problem .What gives??? I do worry about having signed on .:smileysad:

        For more information about that channel's features and functionality, you'll want to contact the channel provider support directly to inquire further. Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel provider themselves.

      Just changed the audio from auto to stereo in my Roku settings and everything works now! YAY!

    I was getting ready to return the Roku 4K Streaming Stick when I found this. Worked like a charm. I did have to reset  to auto after getting  Apple + loaded.

    Oh my gosh, THANK YOU! No other solutions were working for me and I don't know how many times I've removed/added the app, restarted my modem and router, restarted roku. This is what finally worked for me!

      We would like to know how to identify and resolve any playback issues. A few questions here to better understand what you're experiencing:

      1. When did this issue first start occurring?
      2. What Roku model device are you using?
      3. Do you observe this behavior while using any other channel(s) on your device?
      4. Are you being prompted with an error message?
      5. Have you made sure to restart your Roku device after removing the channel and before adding the channel back to ensure the process is successful?

      Once we have this information, we will be able to assist you further.

        To clarify, my issue was resolved with the instructions from Bartwick . 

        1. When did this issue first start occurring? Any time I tried to stream something on Apple tv
        2. What Roku model device are you using? Express 4K+
        3. Do you observe this behavior while using any other channel(s) on your device? No
        4. Are you being prompted with an error message? Yes, something like, "Video Not Available. If issue continues check your internet connection."
        5. Have you made sure to restart your Roku device after removing the channel and before adding the channel back to ensure the process is successful? Yes and it did not resolve the issue.
