Solved

Antenna Channels disappears every time I turn the TV Off. I have to rescan every time.

On a Westinghouse ROKU TV, "Live TV" never shows scanned channels. I can see them in setup after a new scan. They disappear as soon as I hit the "Home" button, or leave the "Guide" screen. I have tried the power off and on trick.

I was planning to change the name of "Live TV " to Antenna" but the scanned channels are not remembered ling enough to do that.

This system has serious amnesia .

(it was much easier to use our previous dumb TV with a ROKU attachment. Then we were in control of the input feeds. )

  • Hi eldonnew,

Thank you for your first post here in the Roku Community!

We understand you are having a problem with the Roku TV since the antenna channels are gone. We're happy to assist you further. Kindly try to perform a system restart on your Roku device to properly reboot your device's system by going to Settings > System > Power (if this is not an option, kindly skip the step). After doing so, please try to re-scan the local channels. You can refer to this support article here for more information on scanning local channels.

If the problem still persists, please keep us posted.

    Best regards,
    John

  • Hi, MadatRowkoo

    Welcome to the Roku Community.

We understand the issue you have encountered with the Antenna Channels disappearing everytime you turn off your TV. Here's what we can recommend that you can try as a troubleshooting step to resolve the issue.

After successfully scanning channels on your antenna. You can try to change your power-on options in the settings to be prompted directly to your last watch. You can follow the steps below to fix this concern:

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. System
    3. Power
    4. Power on
    5. Set to Live TV or Last used TV input.

Also, if you're not seeing the antenna shortcut tile on your home screen, you can add it by going to Settings > TV inputs > Antenna TV > Set up input.

Please try the following steps and let us know if this helps.

    Best wishes,
    Kash

I've been having this problem for the past few months. I was able to resolve it today by going into the TV inputs menu and renaming "Live TV" to "Antenna TV". I think the icon may have actually said "Live Guide" instead of Live TV before I changed it, which may partly explain the issue. I'm not sure if it persists from power off or restarts but it does persist after switching inputs.

  • This is September 2024. I lost all my local channels at the end of August. I can add them back but it doesn't last. When I turn off the TV, they disappear. I have to reload each time. I tried hiding all other channels, but they are not hidden. They are still there, waiting to reappear.

I'm really upset at the loss.

  • You have to set up the TV INPUT and use the appropriate "INPUT app" on the Home Screen

It's confusing since the "LIVE TV" link on the left navigation is for only the live streaming channels. Not the local scanned channels. It's even more confusing that the Antenna app uses the same LIVE TV GUIDE and you can include all the streaming channels so they look the same except one has local channels and one does not.

Look for the Live TV with the Antenna icon app like the red one below. You can change the name and icon under the Settings / TV Inputs.

"LIVE TV" can come in different forms. It can be set up with an internal tuner or from an external box for cable or satellite which would probably come through an HMDI port. Each TV INPUT is treated differently.

  • Try to give name to your viewing channel into "favorite channel" from menu.

This way the tv will memorize that channel you made as favorite channel. Even though it is turned off and you open it,  it must be there in memory.

  • So we have had this problem for MONTHS. I figured it out!  So after you have scanned for antenna channels you’ll see them. But after you turn off your TV you THINK the channels are gone. But in fact you should not go down to Live TV on the left but stay at Home then over on the right under apps & inputs go to the live tv option. It should show your antenna channels and live tv channels. Oddly enough, you’d think it’s the same thing as going to live tv on the left menu, but it’s not.

Thanks.  You’d think the Roku FAQs would provide this information or rename the 2nd “live tv” option so that their customers wouldn’t have to spend hours trying to figure it out.

This is still a problem.  It appears this has gone on for months and appears even yearsand yet my Westinghouse TV was made in May 2024.  I have thrown away the box thinking I bought a good tv and now it loses the Antenna channels every power off.   This is a disgrace and I should be seeking lawyers for damages. Producing new products with a known issue and not declaring.  Do you have a solution or not.

I have the same problem -- antenna channels disappear every time I turn on the TV. (24" Roku TV purchased from Best Buy in February 2024.)

      • I have "hidden" streaming channels.
      • I have made the antenna channels "favorites."
      • I have done a complete system restart and then rescanned the antenna channels.

It still "forgets" or "looses" all the antenna channels when I turn off the TV. I reported this problem in June 2024, when it suddenly began, and you have not solved the problem. What now?

Loved the Roku TV until this problem. You've gone from a 5-star to a 1-star.

I'm glad to know this is not only me.  I've had this Roku tv for several years and this problem only started in 2024.  I wonder if it was a software change?  Possibly a bug or perhaps just to make sure you focus on Roku's streaming "live TV'?

None of these solutions work for more than 1 time. Power off, and it's right back to disappearing channels.

I'm giving it another week before this Roku TV goes back to the store.  There should be no reason you can't have your antenna  channels and streaming channels all in one line-up.  Fix it, please.

My 70 inch roku tv just started doing this. seems it happened right after the Live tv guide logo changed, so there must have been an update that screwed up something. Before that, it worked great for over a year. I have a 40 inch roku tv in my garage with antenna attached to that as well, will find out tonight if that does the same thing or not.
