Another Plex stuck at 33% issue.

So far I'm not able to find a solution in any of the existing threads so I might as well try one specific to my current situation.

I have two identical 4k Sticks. I am currently in a hotel with two TVs, each with a stick. The one in the bedroom works fine, the one in the living area can only play tv shows and movies from the start, and on a few ones (normally higher quality 4k) not at all. If I try to resume or do something fancy like swap to a lower bitrate stream, it just marks it as "just played" and goes to the next episode. The identical stick on the exact same wifi on an identical TV 30 feet away works just fine. I have factory reset the Roku and deleted and reinstalled Plex but no luck. Force direct play, auto direct play, changing the H.264 level, allow MPEG2; nothing makes a difference. It's also very clearly something weird since the identical stick that was purchased less than a month apart doesn't have this issue at all. Any further thoughts?

  • Mine usually takes a minute or two at 33% then blinks and runs up to 100% before playing👍

  • I'm encountering an issue with my HLS link created on my server using Nginx and FFmpeg. The link works perfectly in both browser and VLC player, but when I add it to my Roku device, it gets stuck at 33% loading.

    Here's the setup:

    • Server: Nginx with HLS link created using FFmpeg

    • HLS Link: Working fine in browser and VLC

    • Issue: Roku device stuck at 33% loader

I've tried several troubleshooting steps, including verifying the CORS policy and ensuring the HLS segments are accessible, but the problem persists.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue, or does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

    Hi theyoyomaster,

Thanks for your first post to the Roku Community!

We appreciate your efforts to troubleshoot the issue you've encountered with the Plex channel on your Roku device.

Did you restart your Roku device before re-installing the channel? That step is crucial when performing troubleshooting. If you haven't tried the suggested order (remove restart re-install), we would recommend giving it a shot once again.

Restart from the Settings menu by navigating to Settings System Power > System restart (if you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.)

Furthermore, kindly highlight the app and press the star* button on your remote to update the app.

Please keep us posted on how it works for you this time.

    All the best,
    Chel

Nope, that did not change a thing. I have two identical 4k sticks on 2 identical TVs linked to the exact same wifi; the only difference is that the one that doesn't work is less than 3 feet from the router while the one that does is 30 feet. No matter what I do on about half the stuff I watch it gets stuck at 33% and boots me to the "just finished watching" screen even though I haven't finished it.

        Hi, theyoyomaster.

Thanks for performing the troubleshooting steps provided.

In this case, we'll coordinate with the appropriate team to conduct a thorough investigation, determine the cause, and find you the best resolution.

        • Tracker ID (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID)
        • Channel build version.

We'll be looking forward to your response.

        Regards,
        Carly
