"an unexpected problem (but not server timeout or http error) has been detected"

This is a frequent error I've been getting hit with while playing mkv files ever since I got a new a80k 4k Sony Bravia.  It didn't happen on my very old 1080p Sony Bravia.  At first I thought this might be connected to playing large (~18GB) 4k files, but this just happened with a significantly smaller 2GB 1080p file.  Unplugging and restarting the Roku temporarily solves this.

This doesn't happen all the time and appears to be sporadic.

Are there any solutions to this that doesn't involve unplugging and restarting the Roku every time?

I've already seen other topics about this same error, but those threads have to do with specific channels (such as Disney+, for example).  To my knowledge, none have been posted regarding the playback of video files.

I'm playing off a 5TB hard drive with the NTFS format.

I'm using a 4670 Roku Ultra with the latest firmware.

My connection and download speed are excellent, so I really don't see how this could be a network related issue.

      Hi Bubba12,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

We have checked multiple devices linked to your Roku account. That being said, may we know if all are experiencing the same issue? Is this error message persistent on a specific channel or happening all across the channels on your device? What troubleshooting have you tried so far? Lastly, may we know the device's running OS?

      Please keep us updated.

      Regards,
      Janadee

Hi Janadee, I don't know if this problem is connected to channels other than roku media player.  I've listed my OS and the trouble shooting steps I've taken in the first two posts in this thread.

        Thanks!
