AirTV OTA playback broken after latest update

It looks like the latest Roku update broke playback of the AirTV OTA playback via the Sling App.

Initially, the issue occurred on one of my Roku devices where after selecting an OTA channel in the Sling App, it would just 'spin' on black screen. Check the firmware update, it was updated overnight. Went to my other Roku device which was working fine. After updating the firmware on that device, the issue appeared.

 

Anyone have any insight on possible remedy?

    I did a full update as well (i.e., hard reset airtv2, reset wifi, reinstalled sling on roku, hardwire ethernet cable, reset wifi) & no joy. Local channels were intermittent yesterday, now just spinning wheel of death on roku. Local channels work on laptop & tablet so has to be a roku-sling compatability issue. This is just to get "live" channels not even DVR playback.

        As noted, this was probably NOT a Roku issue. It was probably an issue with Sling and either a software update or even just configuration of their servers on handling certain devices properly. YouTube has often had issues where certain features disappear on some devices for several hours.

    No fix, but I’m having the same problem. Searching everywhere and not finding much. Thanks for posting so they’ll hopefully fix it. This happened a few years ago, too.

    Appears to be across all Roku devices, none of my Roku (several models) will play the local OTA channels. Laptop has no issue, thankfully so I can watch the games. DVR appears to record with no issues, so thankfully it is not an AirTV issue.

    Sling Airtv OTA Channels stuck on screen throbber (loading icon) With Roku Ultras, playback not working either. OTA Channel guide showing ok.

    I have two ultras, both just stopped working yesterday.  OTA also works on phone.  Tried restart, reloading sling and Roku, no luck,  Roku Ultra 4670RW, software 11.5.0 build 4236-46.  Was working fine two days ago. Both ultras have same software version, slightly different build. Can't tell when Airtv/Sling was updated.

        It seems it is not the Roku. I have it on firetv too. It seems mor to be the airtv. When i use my phone or ipad to set it up the screen on the phone or airpad turns black and stays till you reset it. Sling seems to be aware they have a problem.

    You probably need to contact Sling TV. They write the actual channel. It's possible they are doing something in a way that is no longer supported.

      Yes, thank you. They (Sling) said they’re aware and have their engineers actively working on it. Roku themselves couldn’t help.

        I guess i won't call them then, OTA working to app and crappltv though, just not roku.

    I have the same issue.

    I have 3 32" TCL Roku TV's with the Sling app that are on WIFI that work fine and one Roku Ultra  to AirTV 2  HDMI cabled to the primary living room  70" TV that won't play OTA  channels  or the OTA DVR.

    Why the 3 TCL Roku TV's still work? Maybe they hadn't received the updates yet? Or different Roku software? I don't know.

    I called Sling AirTV's number and the responce was "it's a Roku issue" .and said others are ok.

    So! I ordered a FireTV from Amazon. for 15 dollars to try on the primary TV. It will be here Tuesday.

      All my roku sticks have same problem.  However my amazon sticks still function fine.

        Looks like ROKU-Sling OTA restored @ 0600 EST (11/20/22). Fingers crossed software patch fixed this.

    Same thing here.. Soooo happy to hear this is not just me.. It was driving me crazy.. Thank you for posting this.. 

    Local channels work fine on my phone, computer and tablet. I have unplugged the airTV several times and nothing changes. 

    Come on Roku.. Fix this.. Silly mistake on your part.

    This weekend you may have experienced an interruption to viewing local channels on Sling using your AirTV device. We apologize for the inconvenience!

    To get back to streaming local channels on Sling, please follow these few steps:
    Go to Roku settings on the Roku device
    Select “System”
    Select “System Restart”
    Select “Restart”
    Once the device reboots, go to your Sling app and start watching

      I agree, but heaven forbid they proactively offer some kind of "credit" for lost service. Add that onto the stack of post-pandemic poor customer service.

      Did all that and local channel came on for about 30 seconds, then screen goes black.  Controls don't work to get back to Sling guide and have to hit Home on Roku and restart Sling.

    No local channels available on Sling for the last two days. On Roku, FireTV, windows laptop, or Android app. So it's a SLING problem. Spent 35 minutes on the phone, they tried many things, but no fix yet. Quite annoying.
