There are add on bits of finder hardware that you can attach to the remote, plenty out there to buy.
My cheap hack: got a small metal baking tray with smooth corners, punched some holes, and then wired the remote to the tray with plastic coated gardening wire. Stopped the small person in the house burying the remote (I actually have 3 on one tray).
