Thanks, RokuMaryEF. Your news made my day a tiny bit better. I'll wait a few days to see if this issue is truly resolved. If not, I'll let you know.

I have a few more questions. How did this happen? Why did Roku barge into our homes to mess around with our stuff? Will it happen again? Does Roku understand why this issue damages trust (and Roku profits)?

I'd enjoy talking with you about these and many other questions. Roku could be so much better.

  • Yes logged in just for this, daily trivia back again and the last couple of weeks have had to shut off items in the menu.

    leave.the.menu.alone!

  • I prefer to have only the basics on my home screen list. I hide everything but Home, Search, Streaming Store and Settings. Suddenly every single day, Daily Trivia unhides itself on my home screen and I have to manually go into Settings to turn it off. Granted Roku has lately been pelting me with unwanted additions a couple times a week, but this is really getting old. How do I make it stop forever? Please, I need my sanity.

Thanks for starting this thread, shelwood46. It's very useful. Like many Roku users, I try to keep my Home screen minimal and clean. In the interest of our mutual sanity, I decided to post here again. Scroll down this thread to revisit my original reply.

In the end, the core issue revolves around Roku's cavalier disregard for its users. Short-term profit and an inability to see the big picture rules Roku's corporate mindset. Roku could be much better than it is, if it had the foresight and courage to do so.

Have you ever read the full text of Roku's TOS (Terms of Service) or Privacy Policy? I have. It's a money-grubbing revelation. Here's a short version, distilled by yours truly:

      1. Roku can do whatever it wants and there's nothing you can do about it. By simply purchasing a Roku device, you have submitted to our corporate will when you set it up and turn it on. Screw you if you don't like that fact.

      2. Roku tracks everything you do with our devices and may share or sell your personal data to third parties you know nothing about. Resistance is futile.

There are good things to say about Roku. It helped millions of people cut the corporate cable cord. But every time Roku barges into my home to mess with my settings without asking, I feel raped.

Roku worst product to buy.. And I am betting with in a year something similar to roku will come on board and sell at places like walmart and roku will be a thing of the past. Be forgotten like netscape and yahoo messenger.
