  • Hi, Hero27

Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community.

We appreciate you sharing your experience with your Westinghouse Roku TV, and we understand that the screen is still blank after unplugging your Roku TV. For this issue, we recommend performing troubleshooting steps so that this will be addressed.

If you tried all other reset methods and your TV has not returned to normal operation, use the steps below to perform a complete reset.

    1. Locate the pinhole Reset button on the back of your TV, near the antenna, HDMI, and audio connections.
    2. Using a straightened paperclip (or similar), press and hold the reset button for at least 30 seconds.

Note: Performing this step will erase all of the data on your Roku TV, and you will need to reactivate the TV once more, including re-authenticating some apps that require your credentials.

We hope this information helps you to resolve the issue, and let us know how this goes.

    Best wishes,
    Kash

    Hi Community users,

We sincerely appreciate everyone who reported and for their patience, while we try to resolve this issue with the Roku TV home screen displaying a blank screen, only showing the Roku TV clock and time.

    Update: 6/21/2024

We recommend performing a manual factory reset to resolve this issue.

    1. Using your Roku remote, go to Settings > System > Advanced system settings.
    2. Select Factory reset (or Factory reset everything on Roku TVs) and follow the on-screen instructions. Note: This will erase all your data and settings.
    3. For devices with a physical reset button (located on the back/bottom), press and hold it for 10 seconds. The light will blink rapidly to confirm the reset.

Important Note: Ensure to press and hold the factory reset button for only 10 seconds.

  • I turned on my Hisense Roku TV today and all of my apps on my home screen are now blank. I can't even get to my DVD player button. I do not have my TV hooked up to any wifi, I always just watch my DVD player off of it. I've tried restarting my tv, unplugged my TV for over an hour, reset my TV audio picture settings, I've almost factory reset it but I decided to wait to see if we can figure out what's going on. Any help would be great. I bought this tv less then a year ago. Very frustrating.

I have the sane issue. If reading the original posters problem correctly, they don't mean that single app don't work, they mean the Home/Apps list of all apps installed shows nothing but transparent blank squares. Sometimes they'll pop up and show the list of installed apps, but most the time it'll show nothing but blank squares. I noticed this happen on 2 of my roku devices, both are different devices. 1 a roku streaming sound bar, & the other a roku premiere 4k. It gets very annoying as you can't choose any of your apps cause a screen of transparent squares show where the apps are supposed to be, & even if trying to move to the right of the screen to see if you land on a square maybe the apps might pop up, well they dont, the button click to the right only takes you to the ad banner to the righy of where the apps should be. I really hope there's a fix for this because ive tried everything & the only thing that works is being lucky & having the app list pop up after having the tv turned on with the home screen sitting there blank for no set amount of time before the app list possibly pops up. And even then you still have to be lucky that when it pops up when you finally click to the righy to choose an app to use that the app screen don't disappear right away like it seems to do after it possibly finally pops back up.

Had a power outage my home screen would not show up. It was just a black screen. I turn the TV off unplugged it for about 30 minutes plugged back in when the android rebooted all my apps were back on the home screen. Also, I have to clear the cachet on the apps from time to time

Did anyone figure out a permanent solution to this problem? We have 2 hisense tvs, a 58 inch and a 75 inch, and both are having the issue where the TV will start up, but the app blocks are blank.

  • I tried to turn on my Tv for the pass three days and it is just blank. I’ve tried turning it on and off multiple times. And that doesn’t work. I can hear sounds and the Tv is clearly on since I can see the Roku TV symbol in the top right corner, but it simply won’t do anything else, and I don’t know what to do.

Me too, although I am just a residential customer.  At least 2/3 of my apps disappeared on ALL of my TV's.  PLUS, my account information in ROKU disappeared!!!!!  That includes my payment method.  WTF, ROKU!  Did I get malwared?  Hacked?  How scared should I be?  And trying to resolve this with a REAL person is almost impossible.  I got blocked by their automated system every time.

Now that I have a ROKU system on all my TV's, I feel like I am held HOSTAGE by their system, especially when it fails.  Any advice... except to kick ROKU to the curb?

Have you unplugged the power for a few minutes?  Simply turning it off and on doesn't really do anything.

I have a 32’’ Magnavox Roku TV I’m not sure how old it is because it was my grandmother’s but today when I woke up the picture was not working but the sound was. I’ve unplugged everything, did a reboot and even a hard reset but I cannot get the picture to show up.

I don’t know anything about the warranty or even how old the thing is because as I’ve said it was my grandmother’s and she’s no longer here.

Any suggestions on how to fix or should I just get a new TV?
