[Solved] Black screen on Live Antenna Channels?

Hey everyone,

Status Update (6/25): This should be resolved

Please perform a manual software update. Try this:

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote
  2. Go to Settings > System > Software update
  3. Select Check Now to manually update

If you're still running into the app crashing back to the home screen, let us know—we're here to help!

    Hey everyone,

    Status Update (6/25): We're aware of the issue and actively investigating it. We're working on a fix that should roll out in the coming weeks.

    In the meantime, try this quick step:

    1. Press the Home button on your Roku remote
    2. Go to Settings > System > Software update
    3. Select Check Now to manually check for updates

    We'll keep you posted as soon as we have more info.

    I just watched a movie on channel 754. It froze up 3 times during the movie.

    Checking for an update it showed it was up to date as of 30 minutes ago. Version 14.5.4 build 5944. Last system update was 06/22/2025. 

    Someone posted their version as  14.6.4 build 9114.

     Do different TVs have different version and build numbers?

    As others noted their versions and build dates did not change after selecting update. I will see tonight if the issue is fixed.

    Seems to be fixed without any action needed on my end. I just checked Settings but I don't show any new software update - still same version 14.5.4 and build 5944. Also still shows the last system update was in April, way before the problem started. So strange!

        JeanInTN I still would like to know what Roku did that caused this issue. I asked RokuMaryEF but did not receive a response. Inquiring minds would like to know.

    My zip is 89014. It is affecting all live antenna channels. The black screen appears when a show or movie ends, and another is about to start (30 minute, 1hr, 2hrs intervals etc). It lasts until I power the TV off and on again, or change the channel back and forth. I am only seeing the issue with live antenna channels.

    Good news 06-25 12:05 mtn time.  There is an update to 14.6.4  I just this morning updated manually from build 9111 to 9114 and we just pass the noon hour without it going blank for the first time in about 6 days.

    I don't know, but all I know is that my TV started doing it yesterday and someone said they did a software update and it worked. So I tried it, but it did say my software was up to date until I did a scan on new updates and ended up needing 3 new updates. After the updates the screen no longer goes black and that was a few hours ago. It was going black with no audio every 30 minutes until I changed the channels, the updates took care of the problem. I suggest you keep checking for new software updates

    It might be a huge clue that I checked for a software update this morning and found that my software had not been updated since 4/17/25 (and it reported that I my software is up to date), but the issue just recently started happening.  So I would have to believe it isn't in the system software but is on "their side" or some other setting got messed up somehow.  Sure hope they fix it soon, or at least update the progress!
